Architects SL * project Nikolashin Alex and Catherine Emelyanova designed the interior of the apartments making up the residential complex “House on Pokrovsky Boulevard” in the historical center of Moscow. The location and architecture of the building dictated a soft, quiet, yet highly contemporary interior style. Living room, dining room and kitchen are all integrated in an open plan layout, abounding in natural light from the generously-sized windows. An en-suite bedroom completes the elegant overall elegant impression this apartment exudes.

Despite the minimalist approach, it seems no detail was left to chance. Throughout the apartment you can observe how artificial lighting sources were creatively integrated. The entrance hallway exhibits an interesting bubble-glass chandelier, while lighting spots subtly warm up the atmosphere in the living room and bedroom. A neutral color palette contributes to the overall balance of the place.

Ever wondered what defines a professional women in terms of design? We just received an interesting array of photos taken in a modern apartment envisioned by Designer Fluff  for a bi-coastal professional who spends half of her time in NYC and the other half in Florida: “She wanted her Manhattan apartment to feel serene yet sophisticated. The design is a blend of art deco and mid-century modern accented with both vintage finds and global art and artifacts from Laurie’s travels.

In the Living Room we reupholstered Laurie’s existing Knoll chairs in a white vinyl to offset her celery colored velvet sofa and highlight her vintage pink marble coffee table. We kept the walls a warm white to emphasize the architecture of the black window casings. In the kitchen, the Calcutta marble counter-top became the star and prominently shows the apartment’s natural color palette. We created a vista to the dinette with the Jonathan Adler pendant. Vintage dining chairs pick up the warm caramel tones of the marble and were paired with a simple white tulip inspired table. Laurie’s existing art anchors the space with it’s contrasting dark tone as well as balances the architecture from the living room.

When you’re working in a small space such as this, I feel it’s important to repeat major elements throughout for an overall cohesiveness. In Laurie’s apartment, we had a great deal of interesting art and accent pieces to showcase. Therefore, we created a backdrop that allowed those elements to be in the spotlight. Through studying and predicting its customers’ present & future kitchen habits and preferences, Egyptian kitchen manufacturer Amr Helmy Designs claims to be able to invent breakthrough organic design solutions. The company’s catch phrase is “7 Years Ahead”, which sums up its goal to fill a gap in the kitchen market by 2015 by offering improved functionality, taste and service. With the Cubello Series, Amr Helmy was aiming to revolutionize kitchen design by offering a range that is designed around a grid system based on just 24 different units and one size of door.

This approach top kitchen design has a number of benefits. The factory has a minimum number of components to work with so a number of costs are reduced including: warehousing; machine set-up; packing; and shipping. The grid system allegedly makes it easier for designers to work with and ensures that all design output is aesthetically maximized.

The most interesting design aspect of the Cubello kitchen though has to be the innovative configuration options provided by the island unit. Featuring the sink and the cooktop, the island unit provides the main work area within the kitchen. Surface space is maximised through the use of off-set counter tops and a swivelling surface that contains the kitchen sink. This surface is on wheels so it can easily be repositioned for best use of space.

Slovakia is one of the east block’s countries recently coming alive in terms of quality architecture & design. Rado Rick Designers sent us an inspiring project consisting of rooms for a 6 years old Star Wars fan and a 2 years old princess. The main wish of the parents was to create living spaces which would keep the kids attracted even through puberty. Moreover, the father is a big gamer and Star Wars fan too, so he wanted his son to have this superb room to spend time and play PC games with him together.

All the furniture is custom designed; the picture on the wall in the boy’s room is real handwritten graffiti. The library was also tailored to fit into a fully furnished space, as the customer wanted to divide their kitchen from the living room area, while keeping the ability to watch over their kids.
